David Landsman to give 2019 Maggie Nally Memorial Lecture

Dr David Landsman OBE is to give this year’s Maggie Nally Memorial Lecture keynote address, Chartered Institute of Public Relations International (CIPR International) announced today. The annual lecture was set up to commemorate the CIPR’s first female president.

David’s address will draw from his extensive experience of working internationally and will cover topics such as:

  • Should PR strive to be regarded as a profession, or is there a better future to aspire to?

  • Playing with emotions – does the end justify the means?

  • Diplomacy and PR: two sides of the same coin?

David was formerly Executive Director of Tata Limited, the UK-registered European subsidiary of the Tata Group holding company. The company provides support to Tata companies across the UK, including Tata Steel, Jaguar Land Rover, TCS, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Chemicals and Taj Hotels. Before this, he held a number of senior British diplomatic appointments including as Ambassador to Greece and Albania.

David is now the co-founder of Agora Envisioning, a transformation consultancy and Director of Beargarden Advisory which focuses on strategy and stakeholder relations. He is also a Visiting Fellow of Judge Business School University of Cambridge, a member of the Advisory Board of Strategy International and a Director of the UK-India Business Council.

David is a Chartered Director and holds a PhD in Linguistics from University of Cambridge.

Dr David Landsman OBE commented: “Communication has been a common thread throughout my otherwise varied career. It started with linguistics and politics, and was followed by a career as a diplomat and two periods in the corporate world. I look forward to speaking at this prestigious event and hope that my experiences will provide a different perspective to international practitioners navigating today’s increasingly complex world.”

Andras Sztaniszlav, Chair of CIPR International, added: “David’s extensive and varied experience will provide invaluable insight that practitioners at all levels can learn from. CIPR International is all about breaking down barriers between people, countries and cultures, and this must-attend does just that. The annual Maggie Nally Memorial lecture will once again be an important milestone in our busy programme.”

The event will take place the evening of Thursday 23 May 2019 at One Great George Street (Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA). Further details and tickets are available here: bit.ly/MaggieNally19
